Louis Helbig Aerial Art Photos

Thanks to Second Year Erin C for sending us the info on the Louis Helbig aerial art photo show at Exposure Gallery on Wellington Street.

The show runs from January 20 - March 15, 2011, Helbig's images are truly amazing click here to see some of his work.

What Colours Are Hot Right Now

Our Second Year students are required to select a colour scheme for every image in their portfolio.  They must prop, wardrobe and select backgrounds for each image based on their chosen colour schemes and follow through with it from the shooting, digital imaging to the final print.

We always stress being on top of the latest colour trends so here is a great resource from Pantone on what colours are hot right now.  Click here to read the report on spring colours for 2011, take a colour survey and download the hottest colour swatches to Photoshop.

For those with an iPhone, iPod or iPad you can download the myPantone app and have a Pantone swatch book handy at all times for $9.99.

For those that are web inclined and want a quick hexidecimal Pantone reference guide download the myPantone X-Ref app for $1.99.
Honeysuckle is so hot right now, D&G hello!!

The Transatlantic Project

Here is an very interesting link sent to us by one of our first year students Emily Ciphery, the Transatlantic Project.

The project is a collaboration between two mix media artists Alexis from Florida and Suzy from England. They were selected from over 40 artists by two editors to form this multimedia collaboration, even more interesting is that the artists and editors are teenagers or in their early twenties.

Vivian Maier Street Photographer

Thanks to Alumni Jen Allison for sending us this link about a Chicago Nanny Vivian Maier.

On her time off as a nanny Maier photographed the streets of Chicago and the world from the 1950s until she passed away in 2007. Her images were recently purchased by John Maloof at an auction and he started scanning her negatives and processing her shot rolls of film. After posting some of her images to flickr with a question to the flickr community about what to do he received support from many who praised the images and wanted to see more.

Maloof has since started a blog, and a kickstarter campaign to publish a book of her work and produce a documentary.
