Garry Carter NISOD Award Winner!!

Our Program Coordinator Garry Carter has just won a NISOD Excellence Award!!!

The NISOD Award of Excellence is given by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development.  NISOD is an organization "dedicated to the professional development of faculty, administrators and staff; and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of student success."

NISOD awards, post-secondary school faculty and administrators across North America each year with this distinguished honour, to recipients who showcase outstanding leadership and organization that contributes to student success.

Carter you definitely deserve this award, from all the students, staff and faculty congratulations!!

Bigras & Choquette | Advisory Members

The book Lighting Methods for Photographing Museum Objects has just been published by Carl Bigras, Mylène Choquette and Jeremy Powell.  The authors work at  the Canadian Conservation Institute here in Ottawa.

Carl Bigras a Program alumni and Mylène Choquette are also part of the Photography Program Advisory Committee.  This committee, made up of professional photographers, helps shape the course of the Photography Program.

This book is a must read for those working at Art Galleries and Museums and a great read for our students.  This book will soon be available at the LRC here at the college and many of the techniques discussed in this book are already taught here within the Program.

PDN the Curator Contest


PDN Magazine's the Curator Contest deadline is fast approaching, March 7, 2011. So for all those who want to enter you better do so soon the contest categories are:

- Portraits / Nudes
- Installation / Still Life
- Nature / Street
- Photo Essay / Reportage
- Student Work

Selected artists will receive a two page spread in the July issue of PDN, be displayed at the Milk Gallery in New York and online at pdnonline.com.

Bridgestone Photo Contest Winners!!


Congratulations to our school winners of the Bridgestone Photo Contest, above are the winning images.   First Place goes to William Bell awarded $1,500, Second Place Alexander Pomnikow awarded $1,000 and Third Place to Nadine Lamoureux awarded $500.

Thanks again to Bridgestone for once again including us in their Annual Bridigestone Photo Contest.

Andrew Zuckerman | CreativeMornings


Above is a talk by photographer Andrew Zuckerman for CreativeMornings on creating long term projects and seeing a vision through to the end.  Zuckerman is a photographer who has produced four books, films and a very successful iPad app.

Valentine Photography Bake Sale A Success

The students raised over $700 dollars at the bake sale today, what an amazing job!!  This money will be put to good use for the student's Annual Photographic Exhibition on Monday May 2, 2011 in T102

On behalf of the students we would like to thank all the people who came out and purchased baking and prints, we hope you enjoyed the sweet treats and amazing images thank you for your support.  We would also like to thanks all the students who took the time to bake and prepare prints for the sale, you know who you are so take a bow you deserve it.

Lastly on behalf of all the students we would like to thank the Exhibition Committee for putting together such a successful event congratulations, you definitely Got Your Bake On!!

There is a new show at the National Gallery, 19th Century British Photographs. Thanks to Nadine from First Year for sending us this info, the show will include images by William Henry Fox Talbot, Frederick H. Evans and many more.

Many of the photographers in the show we covered in our History of Photography class. So for those that want to see these images first hand, now is your chance.
